Pinterest A Great Way To Promote
When using Pinterest an author has another way to promote.
Pinterest uses graphics to advertise. Covers, great covers, will showcase a book.
Pinterest is another great way an author can showcase their books. First, you should create a Pinterest account, but you don’t need one to share covers. You don’t even have to have a blog. However, both a blog and a Pinterest account make it easier to promote. If your book is hosted on a blog, at the bottom of the post you will see a block of symbols. A Pinterest symbol is among them. Just as with twitter, Facebook and google+ all you have to do is click on the symbol.
To create a Pinterest account, just log in and follow the directions. If you find you enjoy searching for recipes, clothing, celebrities and other things on Pinterest, you might want a business account as well as a personal account.
I didn’t realize until just recently that I could pin covers from my blogs. This is something so easy to do I can’t believe I haven’t been pining from my blog for years since I’ve had an account since 201o.
Your Audience
You don’t need a huge audience to see what you pin. Your pins go out to everyone who uses Pinterest. You do need two things though; a good SEO and/or a great description.
In an earlier blog we talked about the SEO, which is the search engine. The search engine is what you google. For example, “How do i use Pinterest to promote my books?” If you search for that, there will be numerous choices for you to look at. That would be the great description. If you don’t want to write a description use #’s. You should have five to seven descriptive words about your book. Use those. For me it might look something like this. #romance #historical #alpha males #adventure #mystery
Your profile
I recommend choosing a name that represents what you write. For example: Christine/Romance Writer. Of course I didn’t do that. When I started pinning, I didn’t realize the impact I could make with pins. I did pin my covers but only one time. You can pin you covers more than once. If you have multiple covers, that’s great. Create a schedule which you can follow and put your books front and center many times. If you have a keyword in your title, when people search for romance they will see your profile.
Vertical Image
Vertical images are the preferred image type. It seems our covers are made for the boards.
Brand your account
We talked a little about branding in an earlier post. If you have a series of books, they should be similar in fonts, graphics and colors. The viewer should know by looking at the covers they go together.
and Instagram: a better way to advertise your books
