Just wanted everyone to know that I will be reading from my Novel "SOMETIMES IN DREAMS" this Sunday at Vroomans Book store in Pasadena. If you are anywhere near, come on out and give a listen. 2;00 PM (1400) up stairs.

Incidentally my work is going OK though I have been sorta stuck these past few days. Partly because it is a section of the book I really don't want to write. I hate hurting and or killing off my creatures so I have trouble doing it.

I finished the scenes in book 2 of my Collie Chronicles series--some of them very rough! So there's a lot of editing to do--and I'm in that process now. But I'm past a major milestone in getting this book done. So woo-hoo!

Art of Shakespeare: Packing A Punch?

I was working on my latest manuscript, "Nightcrawler Redemption" and was having issues. Firstly, it was sitting so long I forgot the sequence of the story. Second, I didn't know where to pick up.

I realized that I had to go back to basics: brevity is the key to great writing. Consider that The Holy Bible and Shakespeare are the greatest works known to man. The reason is that they pack so much power in mere words and sentences. One chapter equals the sum of most books. It has been my highest goal, and from here I proceeded. I decided to write a sample excerpt that would knock some socks off. And, I think I succeeded.

Think of an episode as a mid-term essay you had to write back in high school. Write in a way that people get to know something about your characters even if they're just making a flash appearance. Make the episode seem as if it's one of the most important scenes in the tale. Imagine that this is going to be your submission in a contest, and it has to reflect who you are and what you do as a writer.

When you read this the next morning, you'll be buffing your fingernails and saying, "Wow!". It'll breathe new life into the work and your aspirations. And that will inspire you to continue carving out your masterpiece. Suddenly it will go from WTF of a true WIP (Work In Progress).
