Clint Eastwood received a copy of my novel, Difficult Lies, on Monday … er, well maybe. I saw an article in the paper that said he owns a golf club in Carmel CA. called Tehana. Difficult Lies is more than a golf novel, but golf figures heavily in the story. I mailed a copy to Mr. Eastwood, care of the club, the address of which was easy to find. Will he ever see the novel, much less read it? Who knows, but I took the shot. LOL, waiting for a phone call with that measured gravely voice on the other end. “Hey Chris, loved the novel. Why don’t I fly you out here? We’ll play a round of golf and talk about a movie.” Yeah, in my dreams, but again, you have to take the shot. Cost of a novel and the postage.
I previously mailed Difficult Lies to Matthew McConaughey at a golf club where he is a member. Again, a club’s addy is easy to find–Mr. McConaughey’s–not so much. Nothing has come of that, so far. I also went to a book dicussion/signing Alan Alda did here in Toledo for his new book. We hung out afterwards (with about 500 others) to get my copy of his book signed. He did, and when he handed it to me, I shook his hand and gave him a copy of my short story collection, Girlfriending. Nope, haven’t heard back.
Manufacturing luck may be more difficult than alchemy, but I continue to keep my eyes open, looking for ways to get my writing into the hands of those who could make a huge difference. Why not give it a shot?
I am continuing to maintain my Twitter and Facebook. Every time I blog post, my Squarespace site will instantly post links to the post. Think I will check in to Book Bub and see how it goes; I also continually remind those in my family and at work when my book is scheduled for release.
I am almost done with the research phase for the second book to the series. Soon I will off and running with it.
Busy week traveling with family, but I arrived home late last night and found a personal, congratulatory note about accepting my full-length book of poetry for publication. It was a lovely surprise.
I also have a reading and book signing coming up this week to promote my novel You Enter a Room. I will be reading at Buffalo Street Books in Ithaca, New York on Thursday, February 22 at 4:30-5:30 p.m. I continue to add to my contact list.
Best wishes to everyone.
I love hearing from RPP authors. I’ve been busy updating my Twelve Dancing Princesses series and I’m getting ready for the new release Gotta Have Fayth.
Last week RPP agreed to publish the 2nd and 3rd novels in my Life on another island trilogy.
I have been spending the week formatting and editing the manuscript for the 2nd book, also called Life on another island.
