Greg Gildersleeve’s fantasy/paranormal novel The Power Club takes you to a mid-western town in the United States where children with special powers form Power Clubs. The government approves of these clubs with restrictions, the child must be at least twelve and a half years-old and they must follow specified rules mandated by the government. The government sends these special children with their parents and sibling(s) to live in specified districts. Ordinary people called “Ords” also live in these districts. The government formed these districts to stealthily watch over these children with special powers.
The main protagonist, a twelve-year-old boy, Damon Neumeyer, wants to belong to a Power Club. The club consists of children between the ages of twelve years, six months to eighteen years old. Each member has a unique special power. Damon wants to join one of these Power Clubs, especially a club in his immediate neighborhood.
The story takes the reader through Damon’s trial and tribulations, trying to prove to members of Power Clubs that he’d be an asset to their group. Damon’s special power consisted of him conjuring up a black, dense cloud, he called a dark-space, in his immediate surroundings.
A rogue group of people called the Liberators are a menace to the government and will touch the lives of Ords and special people.
